Code. Construct. Create. — What It Took to Organize Code Bharath Hackathon 2025

**The Vision**
In late 2025, we set out to do something different for North Karnataka's tech ecosystem: organize a hackathon that wasn't just about coding — it was about building systems, creating impact, and bringing together institutions that rarely collaborate at this scale.
Code Bharath Hackathon 2025 was co-organized by **Think India** and **Savishkar India**, hosted by **IIIT Dharwad**, and technically powered end-to-end by **SASA Engineers**. The theme was **Code. Construct. Create.** — and we meant it. This wasn't just about writing code in 16 hours. It was about constructing solutions with discipline and creating pathways for student innovation to become real startups.
We brought together **125+ teams** from **50+ colleges** across North Karnataka for a 4-day experience. The scale was ambitious. The execution had to be flawless.
**The Partnerships**
What made Code Bharath different was the institutional backing. We partnered with **IIIT Dharwad**, **IIT Dharwad**, and **Visvesvaraya Technological University** — three institutions that brought credibility, mentorship, and resources to the table.
Think India and Savishkar India came in as co-organizers, helping us reach students across the region. SASA Engineers became the technical partner, which meant we weren't just organizing — we were building the infrastructure that made the event run.
"When everyone agrees on the mission, logistics become easier."
Coordinating across multiple institutions isn't easy. But what made it work was alignment on one thing: **creating opportunities for student builders in North Karnataka.**
**The Execution**
Day 1: Registration & Inauguration
Before a single line of code was written, our volunteer team — **Disha Raikar, Bhumika Dalabhanjan, Raheel Hosmani, Atharva Chavan, Riya Neelagund, Amogh G.H., Joel Malin, Shashank Patil, Vedanta Nalwad, and Shravani Sindagi** — handled the controlled chaos of registering 125+ teams. They transformed what could've been a mess into smooth flow with speed, clarity, and energy.
The inauguration brought together leaders like **Mahesh Arali, Dr. K. Gopinath, Dr. Kalyan Bhattacharjee, Dr. Girish Revadigar, and Dr. Veeresh Balikai**. Their words activated the builder spirit in the room.
Ideation Session
Teams worked on problem statements curated from real institutional and community needs. We sourced challenges from **ONEST, Fala Tech (Vinayak Hulabutti), IIIT Dharwad Research Park (Deepak K T), and SASA Engineers**.
Mentors like **Sandesh Phalke, Vinayak Hulabutti, and Girish Revadigar** guided teams on problem understanding, technical feasibility, and impact.
The 16-Hour Build Sprint
The build floor transformed into a non-stop innovation factory. Teams architected systems, debugged until everything worked, and collaborated like early-stage startup teams. It wasn't just coding — it was problem-solving at its rawest form.
Judges — including **Sandesh Phalke, Girish Revadigar, Animesh Chaturvedi, Vivekraj V K, and Pankaj Kumar** — prepared for evaluation rounds that would narrow 125+ teams to the Top 3.
Behind the scenes, our tech team — **Nihal Vinod Batunge, Viraj Vighneshi, Yashas Patil, Shravani Sindagi, Adarsh Dadamode, Aditya Chougale, Disha Raikar, Samanvita Dharwadkar, and Jonah Yama** — kept the entire system running with startup-level efficiency.
**The Technical Backbone**
As the technical partner, **SASA Engineers** built the infrastructure that made Code Bharath possible. We engineered digital registration systems to handle 125+ teams smoothly, real-time dashboards for tracking progress, and a complex scoring architecture for judges across multiple rounds. We ensured seamless transitions between ideation, build, and evaluation phases.
We didn't just organize an event. **We engineered a system.** This is what SASA does. This is what we love. Building systems that work at scale.
**The Winners & What Comes Next**
🥇 **1st Place:** Quad bits | S. G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi
🥈 **2nd Place:** Giga bytes | Tontadarya College of Engineering, Gadag
🥉 **3rd Place:** Genz coders | Angadi College
🎖 **4th Place:** Prime factors | National Forensic Sciences University Dharwad
🎖 **5th Place:** Alchemax | Visvesvaraya Technological University
The real win? The **Top 10 teams received incubation support** through dhaRti Foundation (IIT Dharwad) and IIIT Dharwad Research Park. This bridges the gap between prototypes and real-world startup journeys.
**What I Learned**
Organizing Code Bharath taught me things that building SASA or winning hackathons never could.
**Scale isn't just technical — it's organizational.** You can write perfect code, but if you can't coordinate volunteers, the system breaks.
**Execution requires trust.** I had to trust my entire volunteer team to own their parts. And they did — with clarity, discipline, and energy.
**Building infrastructure is invisible until it's not.** When things flow smoothly, nobody notices. But if any of those systems fail, the entire event collapses.
**Listening scales better than directing.** The best ideas came from the volunteer team, mentors, and participants.
This connects directly to SASA's core belief: **technology creates impact only when it listens first.**
**Looking Ahead**
Code Bharath 2025 proved that students across 50+ colleges can come together and build real solutions. I saw firsthand that IIIT Dharwad, IIT Dharwad, and VTU can collaborate effectively to transform the region's tech landscape.
This is just the beginning. The goal is to build an ecosystem where innovation becomes the default, and students have the pathways to turn ideas into impact.
**Code. Construct. Create. — and now, incubate.**
