The Challenge
Low-tech workers in India face significant barriers when applying for jobs: language barriers, digital literacy requirements, and complex application processes. Our challenge at the ONEST Hackathon was to design a system where anyone can apply for a job in under 2 minutes without literacy or smartphone requirements.
Our Solution
Zero-Barrier Jobs is a voice-first, language-inclusive platform that makes job applications as simple as a missed call. Built on India's ONEST framework, it transforms job discovery and application into an inclusive, accessible experience.
Key Features:
Technical Architecture
Built on India's ONEST (Open Network for Education and Skilling) framework. Integrated with BHASHINI (Digital India's language translation stack) for multilingual voice support. Uses IVR (Interactive Voice Response) for phone-based interactions and WhatsApp Business API for employer interfaces.
Voice-First Design:
- No app installation required - works on any phone
- Supports 22+ Indian languages through BHASHINI
- Voice pitch analysis for unique worker identification
